As a Physician Assistant for 18 years in western medicine, I have learned that a huge percentage of people's physical ailments stem from wounds of the Heart and Spirit, having no physical etiology. Depression and anxiety are rampant as well, and though life circumstances may be seen as a cause, I have come to know that soul loss and power loss are the true cause.

I live in Mariposa, California on 36 acres of beautiful land. I have a created sacred space in the form of a cave, constructed of indigenous rock and crystals for my shamanic healing work. I practice holistically and with the guidance and power of the Helping Spirits, I facilitate Soul Retrieval, Power Animal Retrieval, Extraction and Depossesion work. I also use ritual such as Fire Ceremony or Water Purification, and Sacred Art, such as the making of power objects and bundles. RICHARD COHN, PhD, is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Since 1990, Dr. Cohn has researched the application of shamanic healing practices to psychotherapy. Those pursuits have led him to study the traditions of the Huichol Indians of Mexico, the Shuar of Ecuador, the Jaguar Shamans of the Amazon, the coastal shamans and the Q'uero of Peru. Dr. Alberto Villoldo has initiated him in the ancient Incan healing traditions as a Master Shaman. He has received the high rites from Don Manuel Quispe and other spiritual leaders of the Q'uero.

Inward Bound Healing Journeys

David Cumes, M.D. was born in South Africa and received his medical training in Johannesburg and at Stanford Medical Center. He currently has a private practice in Santa Barbara, California. He is a Western trained surgeon but also an African trained sangoma or shaman.

Sangomas help people and guide daily events with knowledge gained from the spirit world. The ancestors cannot communicate in a normal way because they live in the realm of spirit. In African tradition information is imparted in trance, in dreams or through the metaphor of the divining bones. In the latter an information field is set up which determines a distinct bone pattern that is then read by the sangoma. Plant medicines and rituals are dispensed for healing according to the diagnosis forthcoming from the bones. This medicine, which is not localized in space and time, can also be made available by phone or e-mail.

DANIEL FOOR

Daniel lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where he offers regular ceremonial circles, shamanic trainings, and individual healing and mentorship sessions. He also co-leads an annual Mount Shasta Vision Quest with Linda Held of Mt. Shasta Herb and Health. LARRY KESSLER, MA

Larry Kessler spent a good part of the last fifteen years in Hawaii studying the ways of the ancient Hawaiians. In 1996, he was initiated by his kupua Kiaina'auaomaikalanihim into a lineage of kahuna that extends back twenty generations from Daddy Bray to before Kamehameha. After that, he spent another nine years working with other teachers and healers -- Papa Henry and Uncle George Naope of Hawaii, Papa Kahlua of Oahu, and John Kaimikaua of Molokai.

PATH OF THE HEART

Offered in Ojai, California, this workshop gives time and space to witness what is sacred - a person's own emotions and feeling states.   Using ecstatic movement and a late night ritual, the work collapses the boundaries of the ego to free the authentic expressions of the self.   The shamanic awakening invites areas that are blocked, protected or wounded to become portals into the spirit world. The Healing Tree, formed under the auspices of the SunMoon Foundation, makes use of ancient shamanic practices, including visionary skills, journeying, soul retrieval, extractions, shamanic counseling, creating individualized rituals, connecting and honoring cycles of nature, and plant-spirit medicine.  Soul-centered healing/distance healing, process work, breathwork, five-elements acupressure, lifestyle consultation and ancient movement in the forms of Qigong and T’ai Chi Chih are used as well.

Creator of the SunMoon Foundation, Sharon Mazer is a healer with 30 years experience. She holds a BA from Antioch University in Psychology/Movement Therapy and graduated from Twin Lakes College of the Healing Arts.   She is certifies as Natural Health Counselor, Massage Therapist, Esoteric Healing Practitioner and Practitioner in Five–Elements Acupressure.  She is also certified as a Qigong and Tai’ Chi Chih instructor.  Her shamanic training includes three years of study and initiation in Andean Shamanism wit the Q’uero shamans.  She was initiated into the Inca lineage in 2003.  She has also completed a one-year training program in Amazonian plant-spirit medicine.

WAVES OF SPIRIT

A practice dedicated to helping individuals and groups heal and discover their authentic selves through an individualized process to create happier, healthier lives. I am a shamanic practitioner, certified hypnotherapist, and life coach who has studied shamanic practices and herbal medicine in the Amazon. I have also trained in life’s purpose discovery and dream interpretation. My specialty is helping clients identify and give voice to their Unspoken Child within – that part of them that manifests in reoccurring negative patterns, feelings of unworthiness, limiting behavior and physical issues.
